When you buy a Helicoil kit it comes with a drill bit, a special tap made just for the helicoil, a driver tool and the stainless steel Helicoil inserts. The process is easy, you just drill the damaged hole out with the supplied drill bit, then retap the hole with the special Helicoil tap, and then use the driver to screw in the Helicoil, when you are done just use a punch to break off the driver tang on the insert and you are ready to screw in your new bolt.
