The Best Way to Repair Damaged Threads

Have you ever had a bolt hole that you could no longer screw a bolt into due to missing or damaged threads, or wanted to make a bolt hole stronger in materials such as aluminum? Well, my husband has been a machinist for 15 years and knows the best fix for your problem, it is the Helicoil inserts. You can buy Helicoil in metric sizes from m2 to m39 coarse or fine and in standard sizes from #4-40 to 1 1/2" coarse and fine.
When you buy a Helicoil kit it comes with a drill bit, a special tap made just for the helicoil, a driver tool and the stainless steel Helicoil inserts. The process is easy, you just drill the damaged hole out with the supplied drill bit, then retap the hole with the special Helicoil tap, and then use the driver to screw in the Helicoil, when you are done just use a punch to break off the driver tang on the insert and you are ready to screw in your new bolt. It's as easy as that!
